Focused on extending financial inclusion via Open Finance and Productive Credit
Phase I (ASEAN)
The ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) region is ripe for transformation through Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), with a focus on extending financial inclusion via Open Finance and productive credit systems. This DPI initiative will create interoperable digital systems for identity, payments, and data sharing, enabling secure and inclusive access to services while supporting sustainable development goals.
One of the key objectives is to expand financial inclusion by extending current mechanisms like mortgage-backed securitization (MBS) and introducing new systems, such as digital asset registries and exchanges. By setting up secondary markets for loans and receivables, the velocity of money in the region can be increased.
The project aims to tailor Open Finance to ASEAN’s needs, recognizing the region’s unique regulatory and cultural diversity.
The initiative will prioritize:
Economic diversification and resilience.
Digital transformation.
Sustainability and green transitions.
Regional integration and trade facilitation.
Financial inclusion.
